Xsquared Architects is a growing, well established Tasmanian architecture and sustainability practice focused on delivering a broad suite of complex and engaging projects. These range from modernising the research station facilities on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island, designing helipads to service remote medical facilities in Dover and St Helens, redeveloping derelict heritage listed buildings in a former hospital and mental asylum at New Norfolk into tourism ventures, reinvigorating the Burnie cultural precinct to designing vital new mental health facilities and exciting hotel developments in Hobart.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Architect with design flair, an eye for detail and a passion for sustainability to join our Hobart office to lead projects and add value to our practice. You will be proficient in REVIT, have extensive experience developing high quality design outcomes, successful experience leading teams and display good commercial acumen. While you will report to a project Director, this is largely an autonomous position, so you should be self-sufficient and self-motivated.

You must have:

  • At least 15 years’ experience in architectural practice.
  • A strong design sensibility.
  • Project management skills to lead a team from inception to completion on medium to large scale projects.
  • Experience on a range of project typologies, coordinating the work of consultants and resolving complex details.
  • A thorough understanding of construction detailing, the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
