We have taken the opportunity during the design of our own offices to embrace a layout that both accommodates new ways of working and incorporates the best environmental quality and sustainability outcomes that we can achieve. The open plan layout allows for a co-operative and collaborative working environment; the mixture of workstation styles, sizes and locations suits the different ways of working that different staff and project tasks demand; an extremely high proportion of the fitout uses materials recycled from our previous office fitout or from the previous fitout, or indeed from demolition materials from other job sites; and new materials and furniture is of a very high environmental standard or recycled, or both, with equipment chosen not just for its environmental credentials but also on the basis of the contribution that it can make to the wellbeing of staff. To reflect the sustainability ambitions of the project we have registered it to achieve a world’s best practise 6 star Green Star sustainability rating.
