In May 2016 Tasplan engaged Xsquared Architects to assess their current and future office accommodation needs. The assessment was prompted by the need to consolidate their leased premises to address the impending merger with the Retirement Benefits Fund (RBF).
Following an Office Lease Request For Proposal managed by Xsquared Architects, Tasplan nominated two and a half floors in 188 Collins Street Hobart as their preferred new location.
Xsquared Architects were then engaged to complete the design of the new office fitout.
The new tenancy, with a Net Lettable Area of 2,500 square metres, accommodates 158 staff workpoints. Tasplan operations and corporate staff occupy two complete secured floors on Level 6 and Level 7, while the half floor on Level 8 is dedicated to the publicly accessible Member’s Services area, with interview rooms, financial planner’s offices, and boardroom.
The fitout was tendered and carried out in two stages, with Stage 1 Member Services required to be completed in a very short time frame to meet the merger deadline of April 2017. Stage 1 was constructed by Construction 3 Pty Ltd.
Stage 2 comprises the two full floors of generally open plan office space with associated staff collaboration space kitchen, breakout areas, alcoves, small and larger meeting rooms, executive offices, and contact centre. Stage 2 was constructed by Tascon Constructions Pty Ltd from April to June 2017.
The workstations were provided by local supplier UCI. All workstations are electric control sit-to-stand desks to provide maximum flexibility within the workspace, and meet current expectations regarding office ergonomics.
