Co-located Tribunals

The Tribunal co-location project has long been planned in order to centralise the State Government’s different Tribunals within a single location.  Until the completion of this project Tasmania remained the only State not to have an amalgamated tribunal justice system.  Previously these services were across numerous locations in the greater Hobart region.  The amalgamation creates what will be known as the Tasmanian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (TasCAT).

The fit out consists of formal hearing rooms, large hearing rooms, mediation rooms, offices, and break out spaces as well as support spaces for staff.  Nineteen hearing rooms are provided in total, all equipped with state of the art audio/visual technology to allow for remote hearings.

The Council of Australasian Tribunals (COAT) workplace Office Design guidelines set the minimum benchmark for the fitout which Xsquared Architects were able to optimise and exceed.
