Constructed in the late 1960s, the Lauderdale Primary School is being redeveloped to increase the school’s capacity due to increasing enrolments and provide contemporary learning and support spaces.
Xsquared Architects is working with the Department for Education, Children and Young People on the masterplanning, design and delivery of the redevelopment, including prioritising the scope of works.
Key issues to be addressed include:
- Maximising the potential number of General Learning Areas to be constructed, while improving the functional efficiency of the school
- Improving the outdoor environment, accessibility and connectivity of outdoor spaces to the classrooms, and improving general wayfinding
Logistical challenges include a sloping site and staging of works so that the school can remain operational during construction.
This project provides a great opportunity to support the growing community of Lauderdale to ensure that the Lauderdale Primary School continues to meet their needs into the future.
