Burnie Cultural Centre Public Consultation

Front Entry Burnie Cultural Centre

Burnie Cultural Centre is an ambitious transformation project to create a dynamic, contemporary cultural, visual and performing arts centre within Burnie’s CBD cultural precinct. The Centre is formed by renovations and additions to the Burnie Arts and Function Centre enabling integration of the Burnie Regional Art Gallery and Burnie Regional Museum into one building.

Modifications include:

  • Providing new entry, reception and front of house facilities
  • New public café
  • Modernising amenities, improving accessibility and circulation
  • Creating links between the new additions, Artcade and civic plaza
  • Refurbishing existing spaces to create more open and flexible exhibition, function and performance spaces
  • Integrating museum objects into built elements as part of a permanent display
  • Adding a courtyard roof and updating the external cladding system
  • Landscaping and wayfinding signage

Xsquared Architects is delighted to work with the Burnie City Council to make their vision for a vibrant cultural precinct, with better connectivity to the CBD and enhanced community engagement, a reality.

A period of public consultation is open until 7 November 2022.
