Xsquared Architects has been commissioned to design and document an all of office building refurbishment of the Lands Building at 134 Macquarie Street. This substantial project in its early stages is for the Department of Primary Industries Parks, Water and the Environment. The typical floors have extensive feature timber. This timber has been sourced from Hydrowood. Hydrowood timber is reclaimed from the depths of Lake Pieman. The Hydrowood has been machined by Oakdale Industries, Oakdale is a disability employer. Oakdale also produce SmarkOak, a laminated veneer timber produce engineered from Tasmanian Oak, this is being used in joinery throughout the project. Xsquared Architects are proud to support and work with Oakdale Instruries on this project.
Construction commenced in August 2018 and is due for completion in December 2020.
